Boff is a failed orienteer who is perfecting the art of getting lost. His adventures in remixing begin and end with scissors, glue and plenty of Tippex, and for this he owes a debt of gratitude to Michael Nesmith's mother Bette, who invented liquid paper in the early 1950s. This invention earned her millions of dollars, which later enabled Mike (as guitarist in The Monkees) to finance obscure film and music projects. Despite their reputation as the first 'manufactured boy band' they went on to tour with Jimi Hendrix and had Frank Zappa star in their film 'Head'. The Boff remix for Flies On You was created on a German Magnetophon reel-to-reel tape machine. The reason for the scissors, glue and Tippex is that the 45 year-old tape on the Magnetophon invariably breaks; edits have to be marked on the reverse with liquid paper, as chalk and white pencil refuse to adhere to the glossy backing. Boff was formerly a member of popsters Chumbawamba. He currently writes books and theatre.
